All registered charities must understand and adopt the new reporting standards. This is important for any Buddhist temples and organisations that are registered as charities in New Zealand.
The New Zealand Buddhist Council has been assisted by the Financial Services Manager of the Methodist Church, who has been working with parishes and other organisations to support them in making use of the new guidelines and meeting the regulatory requirements.
While the regulations may seem daunting, they can serve as a valuable discipline to help organisations identify and meet their own objectives. It is important that all boards of trustees or executive committees of societies understand these requirements and become familiar with them.
You can read more about the reporting standards on the Charities Services website.
